Mikel y Pau son dos compañeros de piso inútiles, vagos, inmaduros y porreros que llevan estudiando tanos años la carrera de derecho que ya ni siquiera saben el curso en el que están. Una noche, durante su tradicional quinta reposición anual de la trilogía de «El señor de los anillos» en versión extendida, se quedan sin víveres y Mikel se presta voluntario para ir a su tienda de confianza a por suministros. La vida de los dos compañeros de piso da un volantazo cuando, en aquella tienda, entre el pasillo de las patatas fritas de bolsa y el de las bebidas alcohólicas, Mikel presencia cómo un republicano de la Guerra Civil Española sale de una nevera. A partir de ese momento, ambos amigos se ven envueltos en una aventura repleta de personajes absurdos, sectas malignas, autómatas asesinos y furros. «Un rojo en la nevera» es una mezcla entre «E.T.» ( si E.T. fuese un rojo de la Guerra Civil) y «Dos colgados muy fumados» (pero la 2, la de «Fuga en Guantánamo», que es la buena).

Mikel and Pau are two useless, lazy, immature, pot-smoking roommates who have been studying law for so many years that they don't even know what year they're in anymore. One night, during their traditional fifth annual rewatch of the extended version of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, they run out of food and Mikel volunteers to go to his favorite store for supplies. The lives of the two roommates take a sharp turn when, in that store, between the aisle of potato chips and the aisle of alcoholic beverages, Mikel witnesses a Republican from the Spanish Civil War coming out of a refrigerator. From that moment on, the two friends find themselves embroiled in an adventure full of absurd characters, evil sects, killer automatons, and furros. “Un rojo en la nevera” is a mixture of “E.T.” (if E.T. were a Republican from the Civil War) and “Dos colgados muy fumados” (but the second one, “Fuga en Guantánamo,” which is the good one).
